October 22 - “Singing in the Rain” with Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Donald O’Connor
One of the most beloved and celebrated film musicals of
all time. Directed by Stanley Donen and
Gene Kelly, this funny, up-beat, tuneful and thoroughly enjoyable story of
Hollywood’s frantic transition to sound in 1927, was produced during MGM
studios' creative pinnacle. From the late 1930s to the early 1960s, producer
Arthur Freed completed more than forty musicals for MGM, including An American in Paris which we screened
last year. Bring the kids to this one,
too.

December 17 – “The Court Jester” with Danny Kaye, Glynis Johns and Angela Lansbury
This movie is a true delight, a must-see for all ages. Danny Kaye is the young rebel impersonating a jester in the court of an evil king but mistaken for a hit man. There have been few performers who could light up an entire scene by their mere presence, and Kaye is one of them. He could do it all: dance, sing and make you laugh so hard your jaw would hurt the next day. And in this movie hegets a chance to do all three, plus some swashbuckling to boot!
