• Tanakh, the Holy Scriptures, Jewish Publication Society [we recommend the Hebrew-English version]
• The Jewish Study Bible, Oxford University Press [This is the same text of the JPS translation as above plus a wide selection of notes based on traditional Jewish exegesis and modern scholarship. This text with a Tanakh in Hebrew, Koren for example, will be a great read for the rest of your life]
• Etz Hayim, Jewish Publication Society [Conservative. It has two commentaries on each page: one historical-critical commentary, and a spiritual commentary, relying on traditional and Chassidic sources. This is the one I prefer, but there are other option also]
• Gunther Plaut, The Torah: a modern commentary. [Reform]
• Siddur with English [a wonderful choice would be the recently published Koren Siddur with commentary of the Chief Rabbi of England, Sir Jonathan Sachs]
